NEW! IMPORTANT INFO ON THE ACCOMMODATION- RELATED COSTS
As you know, the ECS3 organizing committee, with the generous support of the International Union of Crystallography, European Crystallographic Association, Croatian Association of Crystallographers and Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, has provided bursaries which are covering (partly or entirely) onsite subsistence expenses for 31 students and all academic lecturers (22). Furthermore, 19 students were awarded bursaries which cover (partly or entirely) their registration fees. Finally, for all lecturers' partners, although we are not covering accommodation expenses, we do cover their registration fees (as accompanying person). In order to maximize the effect of this support scheme, we have established transparent and strict rules to distribute these very limited funds, as follows:
Student accommodation bursaries cover 7 half-boards (breakfasts and dinners) in shared rooms in the 3* hotel (typically 1.820,00 HRK for 7 days)
The onsite expenses of the lecturers are covered based on half-board accommodation (breakfasts and dinners) in single rooms in 4* hotels (typically 512 HRK per day). In principle, we are covering three days for a single lecture (60 mins), four days for two lectures, and the full week for more than that.
Please note that all potential extra expenses that you might have, you will have to cover by yourself (upgrade to a full board, upgrade to a 4* hotel for students, upgrade to a single room for students, lunch boxes, minibar, longer stay . . .). At the check-in please check and modify the services you might have chosen when registering online, as we have noticed many contradictions (for example many participants have checked both full board upgrade and lunch box, which means that you would have your lunch at the restaurant and take the lunch box on top of that). We are fine with whatever the choice you make, but please keep in mind that all these expenses will be invoiced to you at the checkout. The reception desk will have a detailed list of all participants with the amounts allocated to each participant within the support scheme. You can check the precise sum that will be deducted from your final bill and covered by the organizing committee at the reception desk anytime.
That being said, in special cases, we are trying to organize things in favour of the participants. For example, if you are a lecturer and only have two lectures, this entitles you to a financial coverage of four half boards in the 4* hotel in a single room (2.048 HRK). If you choose to bring your partner as an accompanying person and if you stay in a double room in a 3* hotel, we will still cover the full amount for 4 days in a single room in 4* hotel. The rest will be invoiced to you. Please note that the rooms (3*, 4*, single, double) are booked according to what you have chosen when registering online. You can check the automatic reply to make sure you haven't done it wrong.
